
Zazid 250 injection contains ceftazidime. Ceftazidime is a third generation cefphalosporon antibiotic which is useful for the treatment of infections caused by the bacteria. It is active against pseudomonas and has improved stability against beta-lactamase enzyme producing bacteria.

30 to 50 mg/kg IV every 12 hours for four weeks
It produces its action by binding to penicillin binding protein and causes inhibition of the cell wall synthesis.
Absorption
After administration the normal serum concentration in healthy individual is 45-90mcg/ml. The time required to pharmacological action is about 20-30mins.
Distribution
Less than 10% of the drug is bound to plasma protein.
Excretion
The drug is excreted through kidney with higher concentration in urine.
Hypersensitive to ceftazidime or any cephalosporin
Prolong use can cause reduced renal sufficiency
Increased levels of cetazidime can cause seizers, coma or neuromuscular excitability
Administration of cetazidime with other antibiotics can cause overgrowth of non susceptible organism
Can cause fall in prothrombin activity
Use the drug if clearly needed
